Accused Hippo Poachers Will See Day in Court

Accused hippo poacher, Lacson Msimango, and his five alleged accomplices will stand trial April 11th for killing protected game, illegal hunting with a trap, and possesion of game meat.  Msimango was caught by police following a tip-off from the public as he was apparently carving up the dead hippo.

Following his arrest, Msimango implicated the other five accused poachers, who ranged in age from 27 to 66.  Community sources have said the men were hunting hippos to sell the meat back to area residents around the village of Mpumalanga.
